Empowering the African Voice: Cultivating the Next Generation of Continental Journalists

Empowering the African Voice: Cultivating the Next Generation of Continental Journalists

A new wave of youth journalism awards is equipping young African storytellers to boldly shape the continent's narrative with truth and pride.

Reclaiming the African narrative begins with empowering the youth who will tell our stories. The Centre for Journalism Innovation and Development (CJID) is taking bold steps in this direction by launching the next-generation awards specifically targeted at brilliant undergraduate student journalists across tertiary institutions in Nigeria and beyond.

By investing in the next generation of African storytellers, initiatives like these ensure that the continent’s future is documented through the lens of its own people. This dedication to nurturing homegrown journalistic talent bolsters institutional transparency, encourages innovation, and preserves the Pan-African ideals of self-determination, unity, and progress.
